Balcony decking or outdoor decking is a common feature in Singapore homes. Houseowners like to use wood or composite wood for their decking. The traditional decking installation involves fixing or screwing all the top wood planks down, with only a small access panels above drain points or other necessary areas.

With technological advancement, it is now possible to have the whole composite decking removable with a slight additional cost.

The video above shows how to remove the top planks of removable composite decking in a mock up setting.

This feature provides ease of access to the floor underneath, if client wants it. It is not a mandatory feature and it comes with a slightly additional cost, particularly for bigger areas. Those who find this feature necessary are usually owners of swimming pool decking, koi pond decking, jacuzzi decking and some others who want their balcony decking removable for very specific reasons. For a simple and normal condominium balcony decking, there is usually no need to have the top planks all removable for any added costs.

Such removable system feature tends to produce slightly wider gaps between decking planks than the traditional fixed system. This allows users more space to remove the planks. The system, however, does not allow the support and legs below to be removable. They are glued and fixed down, and it would have been too heavy and impractical for owners to move the supports and legs.
